About
The PressClub.Com Internet address has been held by the The Commerce Company, a family owned Internet company, since 1997. We had some great plans for it, but only in recent years has the technology for our plans caught up with our vision.
Back in those early days, we tried to explain to various press clubs that having a common hub made good sense, because there would be only one address for folks to remember to get to the myriad of Press Clubs around the world.
We envisioned using sub domains to guide folks to the right club. We actually implemented a couple of those to demonstrate how that might work. The overwhelming response from the press never came, mostly we think because they viewed the Internet as a threat rather than as a complementary resource. Clearly, some got it. Sites like WSJ.Com, CNN.Com and FoxNews.Com and others have used the Internet effectively. Over the years we have watched them and learned. We watched the blogging (web logs) revolution take place and feel that we can add value in this world by focusing on the niche blog area of the press itself.
We shall continue to make the offer to global press clubs for sub domains, but we shall also use this portal to help others who understand the Internet better than mainstream press because, despite years of trying to educate the press on how to use the Internet to their benefit, they still don’t get it. The primary result from this failure to understand is that most conventional press publications are failing… and that is a shame.
Our first step to offer the Internet community something of use as regards a press resource for bloggers was to establish Press Club’s sister site, PressClub.Net, as a place for local city reporters to blog about happenings in their cities. We’ve started that process and encourage you to also visit our PressClub Network site to learn more.
We hope you find our site a useful resource for your Press needs.
